AshantiGold seals premier league return

FC AshantiGold 04’ have officially secured their return to the Ghana Premier League after a convincing 4-1 win over Skyy FC at home.

The victory confirms their promotion with three matches still to play in the season.

The Obuasi-based club has been in excellent form throughout the campaign. Their latest win pushes their lead at the top of the table to 11 points with 58 points, making it impossible for rivals, Ebusua Dwarfs who lost 2:0 to Sehwi All Stars, to catch up.

This means AshantiGold will finish the season as champions of zone 2 and return to the top flight of Ghanaian football.

The result marks an important moment for the club, which has worked hard to rebuild in recent years. AshantiGold’s return to Premier League comes after a difficult period that saw them drop out of the top division.

In 2022, the club was demoted to Division Two League by the Ghana Football Association after being found guilty of match manipulation in a Ghana Premier League game against Inter Allies.

The decision took effect from the 2022/23 season, and several club officials and players were also sanctioned.

That punishment forced AshantiGold to restart from the lower tiers of Ghana football. However, the club remained determined to bounce back.

Over the past seasons, they have gradually rebuilt their squad and structure, showing consistency and strong performances on the pitch.

The 4-1 victory over Skyy FC is a clear sign of their dominance this season and their readiness to compete again at the highest level.

With three games remaining, the team will now aim to finish the season strongly and prepare for life back in the top flight.
