Italian forward Stephan El Shaarawy is set to return to Genoa after the club reached an agreement to sign him on a free transfer.
The 33-year-old is expected to sign a one-year contract with the Italian club. The deal will also include an option for another year, which could keep him at Genoa until 2028.
The move will mark El Shaarawy’s return to the club where he started his professional career.
El Shaarawy joined Genoa’s youth team before making his first-team debut in 2008. He later moved to Padova on loan before joining AC Milan in 2011.
At Milan, he quickly became one of Italy’s most promising young players. He later played for Monaco before joining Roma. He also spent time with Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua before returning to Roma.
El Shaarawy has had two spells at Roma and made more than 300 appearances for the club. He scored more than 60 goals during his time with the Italian side.
He has also played for the Italian national team. El Shaarawy has made 32 appearances for Italy and scored seven goals.
