The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has removed his linguist, Kyeame Kofi Nti, following a resolution made during an Asanteman Council meeting convened at the Manhyia Palace.
In a Facebook announcement on Monday, April 20, 2026, the Palace indicated that this decision was prompted by various concerns and allegations presented against him during the meeting.
Among the primary issues were inquiries regarding his royal lineage, along with worries about his failure to adequately invoke the Otumfuo Ntam Kɛseɛ—an essential duty linked to his position as Kyeame.
He was also charged with improperly managing and retaining multiple invocations of the sacred oath beyond the traditional limits for someone in his role.
The Council additionally pointed out that he did not accurately report invocations of the Ntam Kɛseɛ, labelling this as a significant violation of duty for an individual in such a highly esteemed position.
Moreover, allegations concerning the improper enstoolment of an Ayaase Dikro, raised by the Ayaasehene, were also taken into account.
