Ivory Coast international Simon Adingra says he hopes to enjoy similar success to Ghanaian star Mohammed Kudus after joining Dutch giants Ajax on a season-long loan from Sunderland.
The 24-year-old winger completed his move to Ajax ahead of the 2026/27 season, with the Dutch club holding an option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the campaign.
Adingra is confident that Ajax provides the right environment for him to develop and perform at his best. He believes the club’s attacking style of football suits his strengths, particularly his ability to take on defenders and combine with teammates.
“Ajax is a good environment and also the style of play, I think it fits my style. I hope I can do just as well here as Mohammed Kudus,” Adingra said in his first interview with the club.
His reference to Kudus is significant, as both players came through Ghana’s Right to Dream Academy before moving on to European football.
Kudus spent three seasons at Ajax between 2020 and 2023 and established himself as one of the club’s standout players.
He made 87 appearances in all competitions, scoring 27 goals. Ajax also credits him with helping the club win three trophies during his time in Amsterdam.
Adingra will now hope to make a similar impact at the club as he begins another chapter in his career.
The Ivorian was part of the Ivory Coast team that won the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and has gained experience in the English and French leagues.
He spent part of the 2025/26 season on loan at AS Monaco after struggling for regular playing time at Sunderland.
At Ajax, Adingra will wear the No. 7 shirt and is expected to provide pace, attacking ability and creativity on the wings.
