Okwawu United edge Attram De Visser as Great Olympics suffer defeat

Former Premier League side Okwawu United continued their strong start to the UMB Division One League season with a narrow 1-0 victory over Attram De Visser SC at the Carl Reindorf Park on Sunday.

The result secured Okwawu United’s second win in their opening three matches and further underlined their early-season form.

After a goalless first half, Derrick Agyapong broke the deadlock four minutes after the restart, calmly converting a penalty to give his side the advantage.

Okwawu United defended their lead effectively for the remainder of the match to secure another valuable three points.

Meanwhile, Great Olympics suffered another setback after losing 2-1 at home to True Democracy FC at the Tuba AstroTurf.

The visitors took the lead in the 29th minute when Adjei Martei produced a superb effort from outside the box.

True Democracy doubled their advantage in the 58th minute through Cephas Atakli, who finished brilliantly from the edge of the penalty area.

Great Olympics responded five minutes later, with Emmanuel Amamu reducing the deficit in the 63rd minute. However, the hosts could not find an equaliser as True Democracy held on for the win.

Elsewhere, Semper Fi FC’s perfect start was halted by Golden Kick SC, who secured a 1-1 draw at the Tuba AstroTurf on Saturday.

Semper Fi took the lead in the 19th minute through Richard Sedem Martins’ own goal, but substitute Edward Bentum restored parity for Golden Kick in the 76th minute with a stunning free-kick.
