Medeama Sporting Club were officially crowned champions of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League (GPL) on Wednesday night after beating Basake Holy Stars 2-1 at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa.
The coronation ceremony attracted thousands of excited supporters who filled the stadium to celebrate the club’s second-ever league title.
The atmosphere was lively as fans dressed in the club’s colours sang and cheered throughout the evening.
Medeama had already secured the league title with one game left to play after last weekend’s results confirmed them as champions.
The final home game, therefore, became a special occasion for the club, its players, and supporters to celebrate a successful season together.

Despite the celebrations, Basake Holy Stars posed a difficult challenge to Medeama in an entertaining match. Both teams played well in the first half, which ended evenly balanced and kept fans excited for the second half.
After the break, Medeama returned with more energy and determination. Prince Owusu scored to inspire the home side before substitute Derrick Fordjour netted the winning goal to complete a 2-1 comeback victory for the champions.

At the final whistle, players, coaches, and supporters erupted in celebration as the stadium turned into a scene of joy and excitement. Fans waved flags, danced, and sang to honour their team’s impressive achievement.
The Ghana Football Association was represented by Executive Council member Samuel Aboabire, who presented medals to the players and technical team before officially handing over the Ghana Premier League trophy to Medeama captain and club officials.

The title-winning campaign has been praised for Medeama’s consistency, fighting spirit, and attacking style of play throughout the season. The victory also confirms the growing strength of the Tarkwa-based club in Ghana football.
Attention will now shift to continental football, as Medeama prepare to represent Ghana in the 2026/27 CAF Champions League.
The club hopes to build on their previous impressive run in Africa after reaching the group stage of the competition during the 2023/24 season.
