Kylian Mbappe has been ruled out of the rest of the international window after injuring his knee while scoring the only goal in Zinedine Zidane’s first game in charge.
The Real Madrid striker scored a record-extending 67th goal for France from Michael Olise’s pass – to secure a 1-0 Nations League win in Turkey.
But he was limping immediately and had to be replaced five minutes later.
“Unfortunately, it doesn’t look good. I think he’ll have to go back,” said ex-Real Madrid boss Zidane.
“We’re not going to take any risks. He has swelling in the knee. It’s not encouraging.”
Turkey had goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir sent off late on for handling the ball outside the box.
Zidane, a world champion with France as a player, replaced Didier Deschamps following the World Cup this summer.
It is his first time managing a senior team other than Real, who he led to three Champions Leagues and two La Liga titles in two spells between 2016 and 2018, and 2019 to 2021.
