Jhon Durán transfer chaos continues across Europe

Colombian striker Jhon Durán has once again found himself at the centre of transfer uncertainty after reports of a sudden departure from Zenit Saint Petersburg and growing speculation about his future in club football.

Durán, who is currently 22 years old, is said to have requested a leave of absence from Zenit for personal reasons. The Russian club confirmed his temporary exit but did not give further details on when he is expected to return.

However, the situation has quickly become more complicated, with reports suggesting that his agent had been in talks with Turkish giants Galatasaray over a possible move.

The Turkish club, however, is believed to have blocked the deal internally, with concerns that the forward could disrupt squad harmony and balance within the team.

Durán’s rapid career movement has now raised fresh questions about his long-term future. Since leaving Aston Villa in 2025 for a reported €77 million move to Al-Nassr, the striker has already played for multiple clubs, including loan spells in Turkey and Russia, making Zenit his latest stop in a highly unstable period of his career.

Sources in Turkey also claim that Galatasaray’s technical staff were not fully convinced about the transfer due to concerns over consistency and off-field issues, despite the player’s clear attacking talent.

Durán’s contract situation remains tied to Al-Nassr, who still hold his rights. Reports suggest that the Saudi club could bring him back before deciding whether to send him out on another loan, depending on future offers and his personal circumstances.

Despite his talent, Durán’s career path has become increasingly unpredictable. At just 22, he has already played for five or more clubs in a short space of time, making him one of the most frequently transferred young strikers in world football.

He is also still part of the Colombia national team setup and has been included in preliminary discussions for upcoming international duty, showing that his talent remains highly valued despite the off-field uncertainty.

For now, Durán’s future remains unclear, with several clubs monitoring his situation closely as another transfer twist appears possible in the coming weeks.
