Andoni Iraola has praised Jürgen Klopp for what he described as a “smart” approach to managing his squad during the international break.
According to Iraola, Klopp’s decision to work with two separate groups will allow him to assess more players while also giving some members of the squad valuable time to rest.
Iraola believes the approach could benefit both the coaching staff and the players, particularly those who have been involved in a demanding schedule.
“He has picked two squads and he will see more players and also it will give the players some time off,” Iraola said.
The Spanish coach also highlighted Florian Wirtz as one of the players who could benefit from the break.
He explained that Wirtz will have several days to rest during the early part of the international period, which he believes will be beneficial for the player and the wider team.
The comments come as clubs and national teams manage players amid increasingly demanding football schedules.
International breaks provide an opportunity to assess squad depth while balancing the physical demands placed on players throughout the season.
