GFA approves Ashtown Ladies’ rebranding to Ashanti Ladies

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially approved the change of name of Ashtown Ladies Football Club to Ashanti Ladies Football Club.

The decision follows a formal request from the club’s ownership, which submitted the necessary documents to the football governing body to support the proposed change.

According to the GFA, it received the club’s request to change its name from Ashtown Ladies Football Club, an incorporated company, to Ashanti Ladies Football Club.

The Association also confirmed receiving documents from the Registrar General’s Department showing that the name had been changed in accordance with Ghana’s company laws.

After reviewing the documents, the GFA formally approved the new name.

The approval means the club will now operate under the identity of Ashanti Ladies Football Club as it begins a new chapter.

However, the GFA made it clear that the name change does not affect the club’s existing rights, responsibilities or obligations to the Association.

All documents and obligations previously held in the name of Ashtown Ladies Football Club will remain valid under the new identity. This includes any outstanding debts, fines, player registration licences and related fees owed to the GFA.

The Association stressed that such obligations will continue as though they were originally incurred by Ashanti Ladies Football Club.

The approval provides the club with the opportunity to move forward with its new identity while maintaining continuity in its administrative and sporting affairs.
