Ghana’s Black Maidens ended their WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup campaign on a strong note after recording a convincing 4-0 victory over hosts Côte d’Ivoire in Yamoussoukro on Sunday.
The Ghanaian side produced a dominant performance to secure the comprehensive win, controlling much of the game and creating several opportunities in the process.
Seidatu Wahab opened the scoring for the Black Maidens in the 14th minute after successfully converting from the penalty spot.
Ghana continued to press forward after taking the lead and was rewarded again in the 32nd minute when Gloria Ameaa found the back of the net to double the advantage.
The Maidens maintained their control of the match after the break, limiting the hosts’ opportunities while continuing to threaten in attack.
They eventually put the result beyond doubt late in the game, with Cynthia scoring in the 86th minute to complete Ghana’s 4-0 victory.
The result provided a positive finish to Ghana’s campaign in the tournament, which was staged in Yamoussoukro.
The Black Maidens had earlier suffered a 4-2 defeat to Nigeria at the Lycée Scientifique, but bounced back to close their campaign with an emphatic win against the hosts.
