The Ghana Education Service (GES) has clarified that educational products from Prospectus Ghana Limited are not compulsory for parents and students in public schools.
In a statement issued on September 28, 2026, the GES said it had taken note of reports about a partnership between the National Council of Parent-Teacher Associations (NCPTA) and Prospectus Ghana Limited to market products across about 200 schools.
The Service stressed that the NCPTA has not been authorised to represent the GES, public schools, parents or students in commercial agreements.
It explained that Parent-Teacher Associations operate at the individual school level and engage directly with local school authorities on matters relating to learner development and welfare.
The GES said there is no recognised national PTA structure with authority to issue directives or negotiate sales arrangements on behalf of all public schools and parents.
The Service confirmed that it has a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Prospectus Ghana Limited to introduce its educational products and services to schools.
However, the GES emphasised that the agreement does not make the purchase of the products mandatory or empower any external organisation to impose them as required school items.
It has therefore urged school authorities, parents and vendors to ensure that any arrangements comply with official GES guidelines.
