Ghana’s national amputee football team, the Black Challenge, have been handed a challenging Group D draw for the 2026 WAFF Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico.
The reigning African champions will face Angola, Colombia and Iraq in the group stage of the global tournament, scheduled to take place from November 13 to 22, 2026, in San Juan de los Lagos.
The 24-team competition will bring together national teams from Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas, with Ghana set to face opponents from three different continents.
Angola will provide a particularly strong test for the Black Challenge, having won the World Cup in 2018 in Mexico before finishing as runners-up in 2022.
Ghana, however, head into the tournament with an impressive record of their own. The Black Challenge won the African Amputee Football Championship in 2021 before claiming gold at the inaugural African Para Games in Accra in 2023.
They successfully defended their African title in Cairo in 2024, defeating Morocco 2-1 in the final. That victory secured Ghana’s place at the 2026 World Cup.
