Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, has been elected as the Second Vice President of the Pan-African Parliament, marking a significant milestone for Ghana’s representation on the continental stage.

Her election took place during a session of the Parliament held in South Africa, where she secured a decisive victory over her contender, polling 131 votes to 51.

The Pan-African Parliament, an organ of the African Union, plays a crucial role in promoting unity, cooperation, and legislative development across member states.

As Second Vice President, Zanetor Rawlings will join the Bureau of the Parliament, contributing to leadership decisions and the direction of its activities.

Her election is being widely regarded as a boost for Ghana’s diplomatic and political presence within Africa, as well as a step forward for female representation in continental governance.

Zanetor Rawlings, daughter of former President Jerry John Rawlings, has served as a legislator since 2017 and is known for her work in governance, security, and social development.

Her new role is expected to position her at the forefront of efforts aimed at strengthening democratic institutions and advancing the objectives of the African Union across the continent.
