The Ghana Police Service has postponed the full rollout of its automated traffic enforcement system, TRAFFITECH-GH, from October 1 to November 1, 2026.
The Police Service said the one-month extension will allow for more public education and awareness before the system becomes fully operational.
The education campaign will explain how TRAFFITECH-GH works, the traffic offences it will detect and how Electronic Notices of Violation (ENV) will be issued to motorists who breach traffic laws.
The programme, being implemented through the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), is part of efforts to reduce indiscipline on Ghana’s roads and improve compliance with traffic laws and regulations.
The Police Service has urged motorists, drivers and vehicle owners to use the additional month to familiarise themselves with the system and understand the offences that could attract electronic notices.
Full implementation of TRAFFITECH-GH is now scheduled to begin on November 1, 2026.
In a statement dated September 29, 2026, the Service also expressed appreciation to the media for its support in publicising the programme and said it remains committed to working with stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of TRAFFITECH-GH to improve road safety.
