A fresh legal battle has emerged within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency after eight party members asked the High Court to suspend the ongoing polling station elections.
Their move adds more pressure to an already tense internal contest.
The members who filed the application are Sam Nathaniel Andoh, Samuel Kwaw Blay, Musah Abdul Ali, Charlotte Ghansah, Francis Ntsiful, Eric Bonney, Juliana Eshun and Memunatu Abubakar Saddick.
They want the court to stop the party leadership from screening contestants and organising the elections until the matter is settled.
They are requesting an interim order to freeze all election-related activities in the constituency.
This covers candidate vetting, planning, and every other process connected to the vote.
Those listed as defendants include the New Patriotic Party, Western Regional Chairman Francis Ndede Siah, Constituency Chairman Benjamin Assabill, Constituency Secretary Fuseni Amadu, and constituency regional representative Anthony Aidoo.
The applicants claim party officials are handling the vetting exercise in a way that ignores established internal rules.
They insist the current approach lacks fairness and transparency.
They further argue that the process denies them a proper chance to participate in the party’s grassroots elections.
In their view, the actions being taken conflict with the democratic standards the party is expected to protect.
