Our hotels are not up for sale — SSNIT

The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has denied reports claiming it plans to sell its hotel investments.

The Trust described the reports circulating in some media outlets and on social media as false and misleading.

In a statement released on Thursday, May 22, 2026, SSNIT explained that recently published advertisements were not related to the sale of any hotel properties.

“SSNIT is not selling any of its hotel investments,” the Trust said.

SSNIT clarified that the advertisements only sought qualified consulting firms to provide advisory services for Golden Beach Hotels Limited, the company that manages La Palm Royal Beach Resort, Elmina Beach Resort, and Busua Beach Resort.

According to the Trust, the consultants will assess the company’s operations and performance, suggest realistic recovery strategies, and prepare a detailed five-year business plan aimed at improving profitability and competitiveness.

“The engagement is therefore a business improvement and strategic planning exercise intended to enhance operational performance and preserve value, not a divestment process,” the statement stressed.

Management also assured contributors and pensioners that Labadi Beach Hotel continues to perform strongly and remains one of SSNIT’s most valuable hospitality investments.

“Labadi Beach Hotel continues to perform strongly and remains a strategic investment within SSNIT’s portfolio,” the statement noted.

The Trust added that it continues to support the hotel’s expansion and growth plans to strengthen its long-term value and contribution to the pension scheme.

SSNIT further reaffirmed its commitment to protecting contributors’ funds through careful investment decisions focused on sustainability, efficiency, and long-term growth.

“SSNIT remains fully committed to safeguarding and prudently managing contributors’ funds,” management emphasised.

The Trust therefore urged the public to ignore claims that it is selling its hotels and assured stakeholders that it remains focused on maintaining a strong and sustainable pension scheme.
