Police deploy special operations team to Nkwanta after deadly renewed attacks

The Ghana Police Service has deployed a special operations team to the Nkwanta South Municipality following renewed violent clashes that have left several residents dead and others injured.

The deployment is aimed at restoring calm, preventing further attacks, and supporting ongoing investigations into the latest outbreak of violence in the area.

According to the Police Service, the special team will work alongside military and local security personnel to intensify patrols, intelligence gathering, and targeted operations in affected communities.

The renewed conflict reportedly erupted over longstanding tensions between rival groups, leading to sporadic gunfire, destruction of property, and displacement of residents.

Police say intelligence-led operations have already led to the arrest of several suspects believed to be connected to the attacks.

“We have deployed a special operations team to Nkwanta South to restore law and order and ensure that those responsible for the violence are brought to justice.”

Authorities have assured residents that security has been reinforced and that every effort is being made to prevent further escalation of the situation.
