The Savannah Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged lynching of a young man at Daboya in the North Gonja District of the Savannah Region.
The arrests followed investigations into the incident, which was captured in a video circulating on social media.
The suspects have been identified as 25-year-old carpenter Adjei Abdulai and 22-year-old student Issah Mahama. They are currently in police custody and assisting with investigations.
According to the police, preliminary investigations indicate that the victim, identified as Yibonwura, was allegedly attacked and severely assaulted after he was accused of stealing shea nuts.
The victim reportedly sustained serious injuries during the assault and later died from the injuries.
The police said investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and determine the involvement of all persons connected to the alleged crime.
A third suspect, who is believed to be linked to the incident, is currently at large. The police have therefore launched a manhunt to locate and arrest the suspect.
The Savannah Regional Police Command has assured the public that efforts are being made to bring all persons found to have been involved in the incident to justice.
