One dead, 14 injured in Accra-Kumasi Highway crash

One person has died, and 14 others have been injured in a road accident on the Accra–Kumasi Highway near Paradise Restaurant.

The crash occurred on Wednesday, August 12, and involved a MAN Diesel truck and a Toyota Hiace.

The Bunso Fire Station said it received a distress call about the accident at around 7:30 p.m. A six-member fire crew was immediately sent to the scene and arrived at about 7:46 p.m.

When the firefighters arrived, they found the two vehicles involved in the crash.

According to preliminary information from an eyewitness, the MAN Diesel truck, with registration number AS 4765-11, was travelling towards Accra when the accident happened.

The eyewitness said the truck was trying to give way to a Toyota Vitz that was allegedly overtaking improperly.

The truck then moved into the opposite lane and collided with the side of a Toyota Hiace, registered ER 655-25.

The crash caused partial damage to the front of the MAN Diesel truck, while the side of the Toyota Hiace was also damaged.

Emergency responders attended to the victims and helped recover personal belongings from the damaged vehicles.

In total, 14 people were injured in the accident and received assistance after the crash.

Sadly, one female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

The exact cause of the accident has not yet been established. Authorities are continuing their investigations to determine what led to the crash.

After completing their work and clearing the road to allow traffic to move normally again, the fire crew left the scene at about 8:46 p.m.
