The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it is fully prepared to begin its polling station elections scheduled to take place from Sunday, May 10, to May 16, 2026.
Deputy General Secretary of the party, Haruna Mohammed, said all structures and committees responsible for the exercise are ready.
Speaking in an interview on Saturday, May 9, he explained that the party has received encouraging reports from constituencies across the country.
According to him, no constituency has reported any challenge suggesting unpreparedness ahead of the elections.
“No report from any particular place is indicative that they are not ready. Everybody is ready, all the committees are ready, the constituencies are giving us feedback on the ground and everything is solid that the party is ready for the start of the polling station elections starting from Sunday, 10th to 16th of this month,” he stated.
His comments come at a time when parts of the electoral process are facing legal challenges.
The High Court in Nalerigu has issued an interim injunction stopping the NPP from conducting polling station elections in the Bunkpurugu Constituency.
The court granted the order on May 8, 2026, after an application filed by Konlan Yenuyiab and 16 others against the party.
The applicants accused the party of breaching its internal rules and failing to uphold principles of natural justice.
The court ruled that allowing the elections to continue in the constituency could cause irreparable harm and make any future judgment ineffective.
It therefore restrained the party and its agents from holding the elections in the area for 10 days.
In a similar development, the High Court in Akim Oda has also placed an injunction on the polling station elections in the Akim Swedru Constituency.
Despite the court actions, the New Patriotic Party insists that preparations nationwide remain on course and that the elections will proceed in all constituencies where there are no legal restrictions.
