Dennis Miracles Aboagye, who works closely with NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, to think about stepping down from her position.
He raised concerns about some of her recent public comments.
Linda Ocloo had earlier apologised on Wednesday, April 6, after people reacted strongly to a video where she suggested that being posted to northern Ghana could be seen as a punishment.
In her statement, she explained that her comment was a mistake in how she expressed herself and said it did not reflect her true views or government policy.
During his interview today, May 6, Miracles Aboagye said that although the Minister may have done some good work, it might be time for her to step aside and allow someone else to take over the role with a more unifying approach.
He also stressed that people in public office must be careful with how they speak, especially in the media. He warned against too much media exposure and making careless statements.
“…But if you choose to go the path on which she is doing, where she’s camera happy, she always wants to be in front of the camera, and she’s always making very loose talks all the time, it is not helpful”, he added.
Miracles Aboagye further said that when public officials make comments that upset people, simply apologising is not enough.
He believes that leadership requires more responsibility and accountability beyond just saying sorry
