A young woman believed to be in her 20s has been found dead, hanging from a mango tree at Kasoa Akweley Peace Town on Sunday morning, October 4, 2026.
Residents discovered the woman’s body hanging from the tree in the community. She was reportedly wearing only a red T-shirt, with no shorts or trousers.
Some residents claimed they heard screams in the area around midnight but did not initially attach significance to the sounds.
According to residents, the deceased may have been among a group of people who had travelled to the community to attend a one-week celebration.
There are also unverified suspicions among some residents that the woman may have been sexually assaulted before her body was allegedly hanged from the tree in an attempt to make the incident appear to be suicide.
However, these claims have not been confirmed by the police.
The police have conveyed the body to the mortuary as investigations continue to determine the exact cause of death and establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
