The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMET) says many parts of the country could experience thunderstorms and rainfall on Thursday, June 11, 2026, with the greatest impact expected later in the day across the forest and transition zones.
According to the agency’s latest weather outlook, several areas are likely to start the day with rain or thunderstorms, while parts of southern Ghana may also experience mist and fog that could make visibility poor for road users.
As the morning weather gradually clears, many places will see a combination of sunshine and cloud cover.
However, conditions are expected to become more unstable toward the late afternoon and evening, increasing the likelihood of thunderstorms and rainfall in a number of communities.
Along the coast, Takoradi and Axim have the highest chance of morning thunderstorms, with forecasters estimating a 60 percent probability.
Accra, Kasoa, Cape Coast, and Koforidua may receive morning showers, while Aflao is expected to remain mostly cloudy.
In the forest belt, Kumasi, Obuasi, and Akim Oda could experience rain early in the day before thunderstorms develop later in the evening.
Ho and Koforidua are likely to enjoy sunny intervals during the afternoon, but stormy conditions may return before nightfall.
Residents of Sunyani, Techiman, and Goaso should also prepare for possible thunderstorms in both the morning and evening, with brighter weather expected between those periods.
In the northern regions, Bolgatanga and Nalerigu face the highest risk of morning thunderstorms anywhere in the country, with a 60 percent chance of occurrence.
Tamale and Yendi may record rainfall during the early hours before sunshine emerges later in the day, while Wa could also experience thunderstorms in the morning.
Temperatures are expected to remain relatively warm across the country. Minimum temperatures will range between 22°C and 23°C, with the coolest conditions likely in the coastal and forest areas.
Daytime temperatures could climb to between 30°C and 34°C, particularly in parts of the transition and northern zones.
GMET has also warned that sea conditions will remain rough and has issued a Level 2 alert.
The agency is therefore urging fishermen, boat operators, and other marine users to exercise caution.
Drivers, especially in southern Ghana, are encouraged to be cautious during the morning due to the possibility of fog and mist reducing visibility.
