Fuel prices to rise by 10% from Sept. 16 — COPEC

Petrol, diesel and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices are expected to increase from Wednesday, September 16, 2026, according to the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC).

COPEC’s latest ex-pump price projection shows that petrol prices could rise by between 7.75% and 9.63%.

Diesel prices are also projected to increase by 4.26% to 6.97%, while LPG prices could go up by between 0.85% and 3.22%.

COPEC attributed the expected increases mainly to rising global prices of crude oil and refined petroleum products.

However, it said the impact on diesel prices would be partly reduced by the government-industry intervention, which is expected to cushion consumers from the full effect of the increase.

The projection comes ahead of the second-half September pricing window, meaning motorists and other fuel consumers could pay more at the pumps if the expected adjustments are implemented.

The increases could also put further pressure on transport fares and business operating costs, as fuel prices directly influence the cost of transporting people and goods.
