Disregard flyer on use of AirPods and earphones while driving — Ghana Police

The Ghana Police Service has called on the public to ignore a flyer that is circulating on social media, which claims that the use of AirPods, earphones, and other audio devices while driving or riding is illegal.

In a Facebook post dated Tuesday, August 18, the police clarified that the flyer was neither issued nor authorised by the Service.

The police stated that its Cybercrime Unit is actively working to identify the individuals responsible for the publication.

However, the Service advised motorists and other road users to be cautious of activities or devices that may distract them or impair their attention, hearing, vehicle control, or awareness of surrounding traffic.

It urged both motorists and motorcyclists to minimise distractions and exercise utmost caution while navigating the roads.

The Police also recommended that road users familiarise themselves with and adhere to the Road Traffic Regulations, 2026 (L.I. 2519), along with other relevant road traffic laws.

It emphasised that adherence to these regulations is essential for reducing road accidents and safeguarding lives.

Furthermore, the Service advised the public to depend on its official communication channels for reliable information regarding road traffic regulations and other public safety issues.

The police reiterated its dedication to enforcing road traffic laws fairly and professionally while collaborating with stakeholders to enhance road safety.
