Four suspected armed robbers have been remanded into police custody by the Wenchi District Court in the Bono Region over their alleged involvement in a violent robbery attack in which a businessman was robbed of GH¢200,000 along the Brohani–Hani road near Nsawkaw.

The court, presided over by His Worship Issah Abdul Wahab, ordered the remand of the suspects on Monday, May 11, 2026, after police prosecutors told the court they needed more time to complete investigations and track down additional accomplices believed to be on the run.

The suspects have been identified as Yakubu Abuu (25), Ibrahim Ahmed (25), Abass Saliki (31), and Ibrahim Abdallah (36).

Police say the incident occurred on May 7, 2026, when the complainant, a 42-year-old businessman, was travelling on a motorcycle with his apprentice carrying a bag containing GH¢200,000 in cash.

The attackers allegedly ambushed them at about 8:45pm, emerging from nearby bushes armed with cutlasses and violently assaulting the victim before making away with the money.

During investigations, police arrested the suspects through an intelligence-led operation shortly after the complaint was filed.

One of the suspects reportedly confessed and led officers to the arrest of the others at different locations within the area.

Investigators also reportedly retrieved GH¢120,000 hidden in a polythene bag from one of the suspects’ residences, which has been retained as evidence as efforts continue to recover the remaining amount.

Police further revealed that two other suspects believed to be part of the gang are currently on the run and are being pursued to assist with ongoing investigations.

The court has ordered the four accused persons to remain in custody and they are expected to reappear on June 9, 2026, as the case progresses.
