FDA shuts down Nungua lounge over alleged illicit drug possession, two arrested

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has closed the Italian Boy Lounge located at Nungua Kantamanto after an operation revealed suspected illicit drugs on the site.

This enforcement action is part of the Authority’s continuous efforts to combat substance abuse and the unlawful distribution of controlled substances.

As reported by the FDA, two employees of the lounge have been apprehended to aid in the investigation regarding the alleged possession of the illicit drugs.

The establishment has been shut down while the investigations are ongoing.

The Authority emphasized that this operation highlights its dedication to safeguarding public health and ensuring compliance with Ghana’s regulations concerning the sale and possession of controlled substances.

The FDA has also identified and confiscated certain drugs that were reportedly discovered during the operation.
