Seven people, including a police officer, have reportedly sustained injuries following a clash between residents of Gomoa Oguaakrom and New Winneba in the Central Region.

The incident is believed to have been triggered by a dispute over land, with residents of Oguaakrom accusing people in New Winneba of selling lands they claim belong to their community.

According to reports, residents of Oguaakrom on Tuesday stormed New Winneba as part of a protest over the alleged sale of the disputed lands.

The protesters reportedly attempted to close shops in the community, leading to a confrontation with residents.

Gunshots were fired during the confrontation, resulting in injuries to several people. A police officer stationed at the New Winneba Police Station was among those reportedly affected.

The action by the Oguaakrom residents was met with resistance from residents of New Winneba, leading to a violent clash between the two sides.

Following the incident, some residents are said to have fled the area for fear of further violence.

The police have since increased their presence in the affected communities to restore calm and prevent the situation from escalating.
