Bole SHS teacher’s salary suspended by GES

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has suspended the salary of a teacher from Bole Senior High School who is accused of engaging in inappropriate sexual conduct with a student.

The decision came after the teacher allegedly stopped reporting to work following the incident.

According to GES, the teacher has been absent from duty since the allegations came to light. As a result, the Service suspended his salary and reported the case to the Ghana Police Service to help locate and arrest him for further investigations.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, July 1, 2026, the Director-General of GES, Professor Ernest Kofi Davis, said the Service is working closely with the Police to ensure the teacher is arrested so he can face both criminal charges and internal disciplinary action.

Professor Davis explained that the teacher had already been interdicted before GES decided to suspend his salary because he failed to return to work.

He described the alleged misconduct as unacceptable and said it goes against the professional standards expected of teachers.

He stressed that GES will enforce the strictest punishment allowed under its code of conduct.

“We want to pursue legal action against the staff involved and also take him through our established processes under the code of conduct so that, at the end of the day, we apply the rules as stipulated in our code of conduct,” he said.

Professor Davis also said GES wants the outcome of the case to send a strong message to anyone who may engage in similar behaviour.

“We will apply the toughest sanctions to serve as a deterrent because we want our school environment to be safe. Teachers who expose children the way we saw in the video have no place in GES,” Professor Davis stated.
