Cheddar eyes presidency, promises Africa-wide transformation

Ghanaian businessman and politician, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar or Freedom Jacob Caesar, has reiterated his political ambitions, declaring that he will one day become President of Ghana and extend his influence across Africa.

Speaking at the Africa Real Estate Festival (AREF) 2026 on Sunday, April 19, Nana Kwame Bediako projected confidence in his political future despite his relatively recent entry into frontline politics.

Addressing participants, he stated that although he may appear young, his long-term goal remains clear.

“I know you all saw me running for president. I probably look too young, but I’m not promising you, I will be your president, sooner or later,” he said.

He went further to outline a broader vision beyond Ghana, adding that he intends to play a leadership role across the African continent, focusing on development and empowerment.

Nana Kwame Bediako first gained significant political attention during the 2024 general elections, where he contested as an independent presidential candidate.

His campaign, which stood outside the traditional dominance of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), was largely driven by a message of economic transformation, youth empowerment, and African self-reliance.

Throughout the 2024 campaign, he positioned himself as a disruptor, promising to reshape Ghana’s economic structure through industrialisation, real estate development, and large-scale infrastructure projects.

He frequently emphasised the need for Africa to reduce dependence on foreign aid and instead harness its own resources and talent to drive growth.

A key theme of his campaign was the idea of “The New Africa,” which he described as a continent led by visionary, business-minded leaders capable of competing globally.

At AREF 2026, Nana Kwame Bediako’s remarks suggest that his political ambitions remain firmly intact. His vision of leadership extending beyond Ghana aligns with his earlier advocacy for continental unity and development.
