Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has commissioned residential apartments for the Ghana Police Service at Fetteh-Osakam in Winneba as part of efforts to improve the welfare of officers and strengthen security in the Effutu Municipality.
The project forms part of his development agenda, dubbed The Effutu Dream, and represents the first phase of initiatives aimed at improving accommodation and the operational capacity of security personnel in the area.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Mr Afenyo-Markin said decent accommodation was essential to effective policing, adding that development could not be sustained without peace and security.
He urged officers who would occupy the apartments to uphold professionalism, fairness and respect in their dealings with the public, stressing that every citizen deserved equal treatment under the law, regardless of social status or political affiliation.
The Effutu MP said his commitment to security infrastructure extended beyond the Police Service.
He disclosed that work was progressing on an ultramodern office for the Ghana Immigration Service at Esuekyir, while construction of a modern fire station for the Ghana National Fire Service at Gyahadze was also advancing.
Afenyo-Markin pledged to pursue the completion of the projects and said the Ghana Prisons Service would also feature in his plans to improve the welfare and operational needs of security agencies in the municipality.
He added that development initiatives should benefit all residents, irrespective of their political affiliations.
