The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has identified 20 mobile loan applications operating without the required licence or authorisation to provide digital credit services in Ghana.
The move is part of the central bank’s efforts to regulate the digital lending market and protect consumers from unlicensed loan providers.
In a public notice, the BoG said the identified applications are operating in violation of the Directive for Digital Credit Service Providers in Ghana, issued in September 2025.
The 20 loan applications are:
- Agile Loan
- AmanaPay
- CashWay
- Foutou Credit
- HastyCredit
- InsCash
- KudiNow
- LendAura
- Lever Credit
- LoanGlide
- NovaCedi
- Palm Loan
- PocketLoan
- Rite Credit
- SikaCare
- SikaNow
- Susu Loan
- Taploan Up
- Temivo Cedi
- Zatuloan
According to the central bank, the operations of these entities amount to significant violations of customer data privacy, consumer protection requirements and other regulatory standards.
“The general public is therefore strongly advised not to engage with unlicensed loan providers. Banks and Specialised Deposit-Taking Institutions (SDIs), Payment Service Providers (PSPs) are also cautioned against facilitating or processing transactions on behalf of unlicensed loan providers”, a statement from the Bank of Ghana cautioned.
The BoG said it will continue working with relevant state institutions to identify and investigate unlicensed digital credit providers and take appropriate enforcement action.
It said the exercise aims to protect consumers and safeguard the integrity, safety, and stability of Ghana’s financial sector.
The central bank has also urged members of the public who encounter unlicensed loan providers to report their activities to the Bank of Ghana.
