Newly elected National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has called on members to put the party’s internal contests behind them and unite around efforts to rebuild the organisation.
Speaking after his election at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference in Kumasi, Mr Boadu said the immediate priority of the new leadership should be to create a stronger and more responsive party capable of meeting the expectations of its supporters.
He described the outcome of the national executive elections not simply as a victory for particular candidates but as a mandate that carries significant responsibility.
“Our task is to build a renewed NPP,” he said, stressing that the party would need the collective contribution of its members to achieve that objective.
Mr Boadu also extended an invitation to aspirants who lost their respective contests, urging them not to withdraw from the party’s activities. He said the experience, ideas and expertise demonstrated during the campaign belonged to the NPP and should be harnessed for its development.
He further called on the newly elected executives to work together and ensure that differences arising from the elections do not undermine the party’s unity.
The new leadership includes General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua, First Vice Chairman Nana Akomea, Second Vice Chairman Henry Nana Boakye and Third Vice Chairman Kojo Bamba, alongside other national officers.
Mr Boadu said the party must now transform the energy generated by the elections into practical work at the national, regional and constituency levels.
The NPP is seeking to reorganise and strengthen its structures following its defeat in the 2024 general elections, with the new executives expected to lead preparations towards the 2028 elections.
