Yaw Ampofo disappointed over NSA suspension

Former National Sports Authority (NSA) Director General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah says he is disappointed that he was not given an opportunity to be heard before his dismissal from the position.

Yaw Ampofo, speaking about his removal, said he had hoped to engage authorities to discuss the circumstances surrounding the decision.

“I’m disappointed that I’ve not been heard. It is disappointing that we haven’t been able to have a discussion about exactly what the situation is,” he said.

He explained that his attention had been focused on preparations for upcoming national assignments, particularly the readiness of the Accra Sports Stadium for Black Stars matches and other activities under the NSA.

“I’ve been focused on preparing the facility, Accra Sports Stadium, and other areas under the National Sports Authority to get ready for the Black Stars and other national assignments,” he added.

Despite his dismissal, Mr Ampofo Ankrah said he remained calm and would allow the situation to unfold.

“I’m very calm. I know things get tense. That’s how I was brought up, and that’s what I believe,” he stated.

He expressed confidence that the circumstances surrounding his removal would become clearer once tensions subside.

“I think when the dust settles, when things are calm, when there’s less noise or no noise, we will get to realise that this is the reality and not whatever is being put out there,” he said.
