Carlos Queiroz parts ways with Black Stars

Carlos Queiroz has confirmed his departure as head coach of the Ghana senior national team, the Black Stars, following a mutual agreement with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to terminate his contract.

Queiroz said the decision followed discussions conducted in a spirit of mutual respect, with both parties agreeing that ending their professional relationship was the most appropriate step under the circumstances.

The Portuguese coach described the decision as difficult but said the interests of Ghana, the Black Stars and the development of Ghanaian football remained the priority.

“It has been an honour to serve Ghana and the Black Stars,” Queiroz said, while thanking the GFA and its President for trusting him with the responsibility of leading the national team.

Queiroz took charge with the objective of helping to build a stronger future for the Black Stars and supporting the development of Ghana’s football talent.

However, he said the conditions necessary to fully achieve those objectives were not established, while the team’s recent performances also contributed to the decision.
