Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has summoned Parliament to sit on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
A notice issued by the Office of the Speaker on Thursday, September 24, said the House will convene at 12 noon at Parliament House in Accra.
The summons was issued pursuant to Article 112(3) of the 1992 Constitution and Order 53 of Parliament’s Standing Orders.
“Pursuant to Article 112(3) of the Constitution and Order 53 of the Standing Orders of Parliament, I, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, hereby summon Parliament to sit on Tuesday, 29th September, 2026 at twelve noon at Parliament House, Accra,” the notice stated.
The notice did not indicate the specific agenda for the sitting.
The summons comes amid calls by the Minority for an extraordinary sitting to examine a series of major narcotics seizures involving consignments linked to Ghana.
The Minority has raised concerns over the country’s ports, customs controls, intelligence gathering and narcotics enforcement systems.
The caucus has cited several seizures, including the interception of nearly 3.9 tonnes of cocaine at France’s Port of Dunkirk from a container that had departed Ghana.
It is also seeking answers from relevant Ministers and officials of institutions including the Narcotics Control Commission, Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Ghana Revenue Authority and National Intelligence Bureau.
