The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has enacted a vetting committee led by former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah in preparation for the party’s national elections.
Nominations will be open from August 17 to August 20, with the vetting of candidates scheduled from August 31 to September 3.
The list of eligible candidates is anticipated to be released on September 5.
The party has indicated that an appeal process will be available until September 14, after which the notice of poll will be issued.
At a press conference, the Chairman of the party’s Election Committee, Frederick Opare Ansah, emphasised that these procedures will facilitate the elections, which are set for October 3.
“The committee has established a National Vetting Committee chaired by Cecilia Abena Dapaah. The other members are Papa Owusu-Ankomah, Salifu Said, Ambassador Baffour Adjei Bawuah, Elizabeth Ohene, Osei Prempeh, Joyce Opoku Boateng, and Arnold Boateng, with Evans Nimako serving as the secretary to the Vetting Committee,” he stated.
In addition, the party has announced that nomination forms for the position of National Chairman will be priced at GH¢50,000, while forms for First Vice Chairperson and General Secretary will be available for GH¢30,000 and GH¢25,000, respectively.
Forms for other positions will be sold for GH¢10,000, with a reduced fee of GH¢8,000 for candidates applying for roles in special wings such as the Youth, Women, and Nasara wings.
