NPP MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has cautioned against what he describes as the partisan application of the law in cases involving allegedly offensive or threatening political speech.
Speaking at the Mampong Ohum/Odwira 2026 festival, the Minority Chief Whip said Ghana’s democracy must be guided by fairness, tolerance and due process.
“Ghana’s democracy thrives on tolerance, fairness, and due process and must not be undermined by partisan application of the law,” he said.
He also warned against using state institutions to settle political scores, stressing that “power is transient.”
His comments follow the arrest and remand of Senior Nursing Officer Salomey Awity Baffoe over alleged links to the TikTok account “Ghana Jollof”.
Annoh-Dompreh argued that the criminal justice system should not be drawn into partisan political disputes, particularly where similar conduct may receive different treatment based on political affiliation.
