Hearts of Oak moved to the top of the Ghana Premier League table after producing a stunning comeback victory over Bibiani Gold Stars on matchday two.
The Phobians came from behind to beat Gold Stars 2-1 at Dun’s Park on Sunday, maintaining their perfect start to the 2026/27 campaign.
Gold Stars made the stronger start and took the lead after just 10 minutes. Experienced striker Kwame Opoku finished well to give the home side an early advantage.
Hearts of Oak gradually grew into the game and began to create more opportunities as they looked for a way back into the match.
Their pressure eventually paid off in the second half when Yaw Baafi found the back of the net to level the score. He finished calmly after good work from Kwaku Boateng Henry.
The Phobians completed the turnaround just five minutes later.
This time, Baafi turned provider as he set up Boateng Henry, who fired Hearts of Oak into a 2-1 lead.
Gold Stars refused to give up and pushed forward in search of an equaliser. Their efforts earned them a late penalty, giving them a major opportunity to rescue a point.
However, Hearts goalkeeper Benjamin Asare produced a crucial save to deny the spot-kick and preserve his side’s lead until the final whistle.
The victory gives Hearts of Oak six points from their opening two matches and keeps their perfect record intact. They had started the season with an impressive 4-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea.
The result also ended Gold Stars’ remarkable 19-match unbeaten run at Dun’s Park.
