The Ministry of the Interior has announced that Monday, September 21, 2026, will be observed as Founder’s Day and a statutory public holiday across Ghana.
In a statement signed by Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the ministry said the day should be observed as a public holiday throughout the country.
Founder’s Day is observed on Ghana’s national calendar to recognise the contributions of the country’s founding generation to the struggle for independence.
The declaration means public institutions and other organisations will observe the day as a holiday.
The ministry has therefore urged the general public to take note of the date and observe the holiday accordingly.
