The management of Bimbilla Senior High School in the Northern Region has appealed for increased security at the school following alleged threats from some former students.
The threats are reportedly linked to the students’ performance in the recently released 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
According to reports, an audio recording circulating on a group platform contains alleged threats by some former students to attack staff and damage school property.
The students are said to be unhappy with the school authorities over the strict enforcement of examination rules during the WASSCE.
The former students reportedly accused school authorities of preventing them from engaging in examination malpractice, including copying during the examinations.
They allegedly believe the enforcement of the rules contributed to their poor results.
The development has raised concerns among school authorities, particularly over the safety of teachers and other staff members.
The headmaster has therefore called for urgent security intervention to protect the school community and prevent any possible attack. The matter has also been reported to the police.
Following the report, security personnel have increased their presence around the school and intensified surveillance on the campus.
The situation comes shortly after the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) released the provisional results of the 2026 WASSCE.
The Council has indicated that several candidates had their results cancelled or withheld because of suspected examination irregularities.
Examination malpractice remains a major concern in Ghana’s education system, with WAEC regularly warning candidates against cheating and other forms of misconduct.
Candidates whose results are cancelled may face further sanctions depending on the nature of the offence.
