Two people have been arrested in Ashaiman for allegedly impersonating police officers, stealing a motorbike, and unlawfully possessing police equipment.
The suspects, identified as 32-year-old Godwin Agbolosu and 35-year-old Richard Tamakloe, were reportedly taken into custody after a motorbike rider noticed them operating two motorcycles in the area and recognised one of the bikes as his stolen motorbike.
The rider informed the authorities, which led to the arrest of the two men.
A search conducted on the suspects allegedly revealed a police body armour, a Taser, handcuffs, a police baton commonly referred to as a “Gotta,” two military-style caps, and two Royal motorbikes.
The recovered items have heightened suspicion that the suspects may have been impersonating police officers.
The two are anticipated to appear in court as investigations continue regarding the alleged theft, impersonation, and possession of police equipment.
