Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has denied claims that the ongoing dispute involving the Kristo Asafo Mission is about taking over the church or fighting over her late father’s property.
In a statement released on Friday, July 3, 2026, after what she described as an attempt on her life on June 21, Adwoa Safo said many people have misunderstood the real issue.
She explained that she is not trying to become the leader of the Kristo Asafo Church, nor is she interested in her late father’s inheritance.
“This matter is not about my desire to lead the Kristo Asafo Church, and it is not about church property or inheritance,” she said.
Adwoa Safo stressed that she has never depended on her father’s wealth and has always worked hard to build her own life and career.
“I have never looked for personal wealth or financial gain from my late father’s estate. Even before he passed away, I chose to live a life based on integrity, independence, contentment, and hard work,” she said.
According to her, the real issue is about carrying out changes her late father, Apostle Kwadwo Safo, made to the church’s constitution in 2024.
She said the amended constitution removed Israel Kwadwo Safo as leader of the church and later appointed her as the head of the Kantanka family in February 2025.
Adwoa Safo revealed that before her father passed away, he asked her to make sure those changes were respected and implemented.
“On his deathbed, my father asked me to ensure that this decision was carried out. As his first child, I see it as my duty to honour his final wishes,” she said.
She also rejected claims that her father’s estate has no legal guidance. According to her, Apostle Kwadwo Safo left behind a valid will that clearly explains how his properties and other assets should be managed and shared.
“My father did not die without leaving a will. He left a valid will that clearly states how his estate, properties, and inheritance should be handled. Those instructions will be followed when the will is officially read and carried out,” she said.
Adwoa Safo said her main goal is to ensure that justice is done for her late father, her family, and the Kristo Asafo Church. She added that she remains committed to carrying out her father’s final directives and protecting the legacy he left behind.
