Firefighters have retrieved GH¢50,000, US$5,231.81, and various valuables following a road accident at Suhum Niifio on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.
The incident, which took place on Sunday, August 16, 2026, involved a Ford F-150 and a Kia Rio, resulting in one male occupant of the Kia being trapped within the vehicle.
A six-member team from the Suhum Municipal Fire Station, under the leadership of STNO II Darkwah Prince, arrived at the scene at approximately 8:03 p.m. and utilised extrication equipment to free the trapped individual.
The victim was later transported to the Suhum Government Hospital for necessary medical care.
Initial reports from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) suggest that the Ford F-150 was in the process of overtaking when it struck the rear of the Kia Rio.
The impact resulted in significant damage to the Ford F-150 and partial damage to the Kia Rio, although no fatalities were reported.
In addition to the cash, firefighters recovered mobile phones, power banks, National ID cards, and other personal items from the vehicles.
The GNFS has attributed the accident to improper overtaking and has urged drivers to exercise caution and adhere strictly to road safety regulations.
