Minority Leader and Effutu Member of Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has called on aspirants and delegates taking part in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) regional executive elections to uphold mutual respect and maintain peace throughout the electoral process.
According to him, the elections have so far been conducted in a peaceful atmosphere, with aspirants given the opportunity to campaign while delegates freely exercise their right to vote for their preferred candidates.
Speaking to the media at Mankessim, where the Central Regional elections are being held, Mr Afenyo-Markin described the exercise as a family affair and expressed satisfaction with the absence of violence.
“What I can say is that so far so good. A very peaceful atmosphere. Candidates are campaigning. It’s a family affair. No violence. Mutual respect. That is the beauty of it,” he said.
He noted that the eventual outcome should be a reflection of the efforts put in by the various aspirants and the choices made by delegates.
Mr Afenyo-Markin further appealed to all participants to remain calm, exercise restraint and continue to show respect for one another as the NPP concludes its regional-level elections.
