Lawyer for former Power Minister Kwabena Donkor, K.T. Hammond, has said there is no evidence that his client received any bribe from former Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) Managing Director Asante Kwaku Berko.
Mr Hammond made the comments in response to allegations surrounding Mr Berko and a power project under the previous government.
Asante Berko, a former Goldman Sachs banker and former Managing Director of TOR, was accused by US authorities of helping to arrange millions of dollars in bribes to influence Ghanaian officials in connection with a power project.
Mr Hammond, however, said allegations against Mr Berko cannot automatically make Dr Donkor responsible for any criminal wrongdoing.

He explained that engineers and technical experts normally inspect equipment before it is brought into the country.
According to him, such inspections were part of the normal process and should not be linked to any alleged corrupt activities.
He said any wrongdoing that may have taken place had nothing to do with Dr. Donkor.
