Sagnarigu: Security Council imposes curfew after communal clash left one person dead

Following a communal clash that has led to the death of one person and injuries to six others, the Sagnarigu Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) has imposed a curfew on Damankunyili, Nyeshie, and adjoining communities in the Northern Region.

The clashes are believed to have stemmed from a longstanding land dispute, with the Damankungyili and Nyeshie communities laying claim to the same parcel of land.

The clashes between the two communities prompted an emergency meeting of the Sagnarigu Municipal Security Council earlier Tuesday.

To help restore calm and prevent further escalation, the council has announced a daily curfew from 5:00 PM to 7:00 AM until further notice.

It has also placed a ban on the carrying of arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons in the affected areas.

In addition, joint police patrols have been intensified to enforce the curfew and maintain law and order.
