EU mourns Dagbon Overlord Ya-Na Abukari Mahama II

The European Union (EU) has expressed its condolences to the citizens of Dagbon and the people of Ghana following the passing of the Overlord of the Dagbon Kingdom, Ya-Na Abukari Mahama II.

In a Facebook post dated Monday, July 13, the EU honoured the memory of the late traditional leader, characterising him as a statesman whose guidance significantly contributed to the promotion of peace, reconciliation, and unity in Dagbon.

The Union remarked that Ya-Na Abukari Mahama II will be remembered for his wisdom, statesmanship, and dedication to nurturing stability within the kingdom.

“His Majesty will be remembered for his wisdom, statesmanship, and steadfast commitment to peace and reconciliation. His leadership was instrumental in fostering unity and stability in Dagbon, leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire future generations,” the EU stated.

The EU indicated that it stands in solidarity with the people of Dagbon and all Ghanaians in mourning the esteemed king, whose efforts in peacebuilding and national cohesion will forever be a significant aspect of the kingdom’s history.

The Union also conveyed its sympathies to the royal family, the citizens of Dagbon, and the entire nation during this time of mourning.

“We extend our condolences to the Royal Family, the people of Dagbon, and all Ghanaians during this time. May His Majesty rest in peace,” it added.
