Driver escapes unhurt after accident at Anfoega Adame Newtown

A driver was rescued by firefighters after his vehicle collided with an Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) distribution pole in Anfoega Adame Newtown, located in the North Dayi District of the Volta Region.

The incident occured on Monday, July 7, 2026, when a Hyundai Accent with the registration number GW 6383-17 veered off the road and struck the utility pole, resulting in the driver being trapped within the mangled vehicle.

Personnel from the Anfoega Fire Station of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), who observed the crash from their station situated directly across from the accident site, responded promptly.

The rescue team, under the leadership of Station Officer I Franklin Soglo, successfully extricated the driver from the wreckage.

The driver emerged without visible injuries but was advised to seek medical attention as a precautionary measure.

After the rescue, the damaged vehicle was towed to the police station to assist in the investigation into the cause of the crash. Firefighters also managed traffic at the scene to ensure the safe passage of motorists and other road users.

In the meantime, GNFS has reminded motorists to comply with road safety regulations, refrain from distractions while driving, and exercise caution at all times to help mitigate road traffic accidents.
